Too many tourists with full families not wearing masks. Even though required. Infuriating. And probably not vaxed.

That was my thought. It would appear your family is already exposed to other people through your DH’s work. And I assume the kids aren’t just home with you all day but attend school or daycare. I would say the only way you can say he has to drive is if you cancel your trip to meet your nephew until the kids can be vaccinated.

You clearly haven’t been riding metro if you think everyone is abiding by these rules.

I think of myself as middlingly conservative on COVID (probably would not fly with unvaxed kid), but I'd be fine with this. In fact I am; my spouse takes metro, and my kid takes public transit, masked, although usually buses over trains, which have windows that open.

I don’t think you are an a-hole. I have fears that aren’t consistent too. But I think if you are seeing family and sending your kids to school/daycare, then it’s fine for your masked, vaccinated husband to ride metro.

Just curious what OP is thinking given the majority of these responses. Has she changed her mind?

YTA without question. I cannot believe that you are flying in December (the busiest time of the year!) to visit an unvaccinated infant but you are mad that your vaccinated, mask-wearing husband is taking Metro. WTF lady.

My husband has been taking metro on and off almost this whole time. It’s been fine. Depending on what line he’s on and when, it might not even be that crowded. Make sure he wears a good mask if you’re concerned.

If you and the kids are otherwise in total isolation (no seeing people outside of your household, delivered groceries etc) the. I would object to metro. If you visit grocery stores and kids have outdoors play dates, then yes you should let him metro. Each family has to find the line in the sand, but I would not fight this one too much. Each of our mental health’s have to take a priority at some point. I do not consider metro high risk like going to an indoor bar. I am also worried about delta and am scaling back all of our summer activities. Still doing 1 week of camp but no longer indoors with vaccinated people

Yup. If you’re looking at ALL the risks and not just the vanishingly small chance that your kids will become seriously ill from covid because of the metro, driving is much more dangerous. Are you and the kids really staying home full time and not going to stores, daycare, school, and other indoor locations? Also, it doesn’t sound like you have any preexisiting conditions that would change the equation.
