Well OP, as you can tell, it’s the moms who will judge your kid by what they wear rather than the kids themselves Obviously you should not get her athletic things if she isn’t an athlete-someone might challenge her to a pull-up contest! And please steer clear of cute if she does anything at all active-she may be mistaken for a girly baby girl. /s

If you’ve asked your niece for her opinion, just take her to target or old navy website and let her pick things out. They will have cute AND athletic options and you can bet anything on there will be worn by the majority of kids.

Also, my kids wear athletic clothes to school because they are athletes and have PE, running club, etc. My DD got the most pull-ups in the school by a wide margin.

Who knew Hanna Andersen was triggering for some. Yes, my daughters who wear clothes from old navy and Target and occasionally clearance items from Athleta are snobby 🙄.

hanna is for kids whose parents insist they wear it. No tween is wearing it by choice

+1. t-shirts and hoodies associated with a sport are the trend at our school (summer swim shits, lax and soccer tournament shirts, bball camp shirts...). Lots of sporty stuff, some girls were starting to wear lululemon - parent of a 5th grader

4th grade girls also happily wear their schools spirit wear tshirts, GOTR tshirts, old camp tshirts etc

Most of DD’s clothes last year in 4th grade came from Old Navy. She wore their tie dye and sold colored tees with a pair of athletic shorts.

I can’t believe how many people saying they buy their 4th grader athlete tops. So expensive and looks like the stuff from target or Costco (my 4th grader loves the athletic wear from Costco). I buy it sometimes for my teen who is hard to fit but not for my 10 year old.
