Aside from all the rest (and that chart is wonderful) we’re in unique circumstances. I’m normally very respectful of people’s privacy and wouldn’t dream of asking people about medical issues. But in the middle of a pandemic with a virus that’s highly communicable it’s important to know the vaccination status of anyone coming into your home. Nothing wrong with asking- legally, medically, or socially.

Today my DD friend was over and she asked her if she got the vaccine and she told them “my parents are weird they don’t want to get it and they don’t wear masks anywhere they go I’m the only one that does…”

I really don’t know why they asked her question but reminded your kids never to asked about vaccines

My parents are getting older and we are dealing with a lot of medical appointments for them. I thought this is what this was going to be about.

But so glad I opened. Love the HIPPO chart.

Lol DS roughly knows what it is because of my job and he's heard me talk about it and inquired.

What you describe isn't HIPAA. It's about privacy. I absolutely have taught my kid not to discuss other peoples issues without their consent. I practice the same and as a result people trust me deeply. They know I don't go running my mouth to others, heck most of the time I don't even tell DH!

The only time he knows to say something is if it puts someone in danger (, either the person who told him or someone else).

1954, I love what you posted. I'm going to have to save it for future references. It's so, so accurate.

You need to sign a BAA (Business Associate Agreement) with them first.

Bad news, bro, HIPAA doesn't even apply to your employer asking if you've been vaccinated and asking for proof.

I apologize if your mind is blown.

Generally speaking, HIPAA prohibits health care providers (as defined by statute) from disclosing a patient’s protected health information (PHI).

That means that store owners and friends and neighbors and random strangers can ask. You don’t have to answer. And generally, you then suffer whatever the consequence.

My kid took HIPPA training to help with COVID care at her college this spring.

No, I haven't taught my kids about HIPAA, because they are not healthcare providers and therefore not subject to HIPAA
