DP but yeah, so true. DS met up with a friend at 1am to go for a walk around the neighborhood. I didn’t find out until the next day when he told me about it. He thought it was great since it was a nice night out. I was not happy. True, I never told him not to do this. Because I never thought he would! So a new rule in our house is no leaving in the middle of the night when your parents are sleeping and don’t know you are gone.

These do not block out all sounds. They muffle them. I use them but still wake up.
Good foam earplugs used properly (squished/twisted into a narrow cylinder and slid all the way into the ear canal) will block out normal house sounds like OP’s concern.
