I was just in Ann Arbor and was really impressed . I thought Charlottesville was supposed to be a great college town. Never been three, but it doesn’t sound too appealing.

Is the Downtown Emmit Steet/ rt 29. We passed tons of shopping centers. Is that the downtown?

Not much. My friends and I would go some weekends - lots of restaurants, some shopping, farmers market, movie theater, concert venue. Generally more of a grad student/ Cville permanent resident scene.

Yes, Charlottesville has a history of that.

Yes, of course. It is not a city-- it is hicksville

The corner isn’t that big but as an ungrad, I went to fraternity parties for much of my entertainment, plus the 10 or so restaurants and bars on the corner from time to time. (I was not in a sorority though, but many of my friends were. You still wind up going to a lot of fraternity parties).

You can also walk to the downtown mall if need be, and it’s safe, especially in the day time. As a sophomore + or once someone has a car, you can go to Barracks Road or up 29 or to the Fashion Square mall. (Aka Fashion Scare mall)

I went in the 90s so now that the internet is a thing, you can order anything you really need. Instead of just the Delias or JCrew catalog clothes we had access to. Haha.

It's the opposite. Those people went there because they were upset Charlottesville was taking down the loser statues.

No, that happened after.
They went to charlottesville because it was a white supremacists territory.

You’re a funny little UMD troll.

Statistics can be manipulated, but PP knows that the entire county in which UMD is located is a dump, so there's that.

You’re so right about statistics and manipulation. That’s why USNWR rankings are way off.

Exactly those folks were by and large from out of state.

I guess it’s small-ish but there’s also everything you could need and the side streets have even more. Sandwiches and dumplings and and a juice bar and tacos and plenty of places to get brunch. If you keep walking down towards the hospital there’s even more. And take the trolly down to the downtown and you have the best farmers market I’ve ever been to and the downtown which has truly all of the shopping and dining you could want. Be aware of your surroundings like you would be anywhere but I spent 7 years I Charlottesville and never once had anything happen to me.
