In my experience as a single mom dating, most single dads prefer to date childless women anyway, so it could help widen your pool.

OP, I was in your position 6 years ago after an engagement broke off. I decided I would be open to divorced dads, and in fact, the man I dated before my husband had an adorable 2 year old son. We ended up not working out because of long distance issues, and the man I dated next ended up becoming my DH (he was single, no kids). We now have two healthy children and are happily married, but I could have seen things working out with the guy I dated right before him, but for the distance. The poster who mentioned only doing this if you are prepared to be a stepmom is right, though. I have a good friend who is a stepmom to two young kids and has a tough rel'ship with the daughter, who is frequently hostile to her and views her as a threat to her mother. It can definitely be challenging, to say the least.

+1. I agree with this poster. You still have time to find a man without kids--especially in an area like DC. I am early 40s, divorced, with kids...and I date men without kids. If I can, you CERTAINLY can (difference though..I do NOT want to get married or have more kids). But they are out there...and many do want kids still.

Same here. At 33, I feel like there isn’t much time to waste.

I'm 35 and have several friends my age or so who have married older single dads in the past 5 years. Every single one of them had more kids with the man. So, yes I would if you want to get married anytime soon, or if you want biological kids.
