Lots of parents kick their teenage kids out. Even ::gasp:: rich ones! Maybe things have changed but IME a few decades ago the rich kids Daddy didn’t love anymore weren’t exactly a priority for CPS. Not that those kids aren’t in need, but they do tend to have support networks that have more to give initially.

OP here. Question is not about my family. Relates to the situation of a young person we know well.

A lot of us know people who this happened to at 18 or around that age. In our situation, we moved in my friend and when it was her little brother, his friends parents took him in. Their parents were terrible people. No one was going to go after them legally. It was more important to be there for the kids/young adults.
