Nonsense. I think names that blend with the last name just sound better. Camille Beauvoir or Simone Gautier sound beautiful with American accents. Chantal Cohen or Aimee McGonigle would give me pause.

OP here and yes, DH is French, raised and educated in Paris and I’m of French decent on my father’s side. We speak French (I spent a year in college in France and worked there for two years) and will be visiting DH’s parents in France every year. She may end up going to a French school too.

Literally half of my German friends are named Sabine. It was extraordinarly popular there in the late 60s.
