That's awesome! I would heartily welcome being at a school with a lower likelihood of covid transmission next year and a higher likelihood of not having quarantines and shutdowns. That seems like it will make everyone's lives better.

What will probably happen is schools with high vaccination rates will trumpet that to parents and schools with low vaccination rates will act like that information is nobody's business.

I work in central office. Ferebee has made clear that the vaccine WILL NOT BE REQUIRED FOR ANY TEACHER/PRINCIPAL/AIDE/CUSTODIAN etc. They will also not require it of any student. THIS 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR.
You can write in caps all you want. So can I. It doesn’t matter what the Eeoc said. It won’t be required this school year. Next year….maybe. But not this one.
so it can’t be required for kids either. great work guys!

While I don’t disagree that DCPS can and probably should require the vaccine, they won’t for this year. If they were going to they would have announced it in the spring to give teachers enough time to either get fully vaccinated or quit because they don’t want to. What they will avoid at all costs is saying in October that everyone must be vaccinated by January or something. Because when a large number of people still refuse how will they fill those positions? It would be an utter disaster.

This seems like a reasonably strategy. If I were at that charter I would feel pretty happy about that (given my kids are too young for the shot).
Ask for information but don't require it. Report the information broadly.

So, assuming that 1) vaccines won't be mandatory for teachers/staff, and 2) we won't know what percentage of teachers/staff are vaccinated, what's everyone's thoughts?
My main thoughts are that:
1) that my trust in teachers' purported need to make schools covid-safe is eroded
2) I'm going to have to believe in the absence of data that 40% of teachers/staff won't be vaccinated.
3) I'll be angry, undoubtedly. I've supported teachers doing DL until they were vaccinated, but if they are choosing to NOT be vaccinated in great numbers (and 40% to me is a great number in this situation), then I feel like I've been duped.

"Virginia officials say less than half of State Police troopers are vaccinated and about 50 percent of corrections officers in the state have been vaccinated. Large police departments have slightly better rates, with 58 percent of officers vaccinated in the District and 65 percent vaccinated in Prince George’s County. Montgomery County’s high countywide vaccination rate is mirrored among its officers, about 71 percent of whom have gotten the shot."
