Being hugely pregnant in the hot summer is worse than most other things in the world.

Not great for summer birthday parties, double that for a kid whose birthday is near 4th of July. (I keep telling myself all will be well if we hold her friend parties the weekend after 4th of July bc people will be home from vacation.)

Re: kindergarten. IMO, there is no reason to hold back a child who is 5 and 2 months when school starts but others likely will making DD one of the youngest in her class.

Pros: Ruby is a nice birthstone. Hydrangeas are blooming at her birthday and I think of her when I see them now.

Any month a healthy kid is born is a good month. You cannot plan.

I vote April. Nice weather for walks and other outdoor activities during maternity leave. Baby will be old enough for a flu shot in fall and not so young during cold and flu season that you need to be constantly scared about any little cold. And you won’t be huge and uncomfortable in hot summer months.

My kids were born in June and April and I'm currently pregnant with a baby due in November. So far I prefer warm weather babies - the last two times I wasn't pregnant in the summer so I could enjoy it more, and I didn't have to deal with bundling a newborn and could spend a lot of time outside, plus it wasn't cold/flu season.

I had my baby in April and it was perfect timing. We had a lovely spring and summer before I went back to work after Labor Day.

Sorry, but I disagree. The comments are not "rude." People need to understand that when they go to DCUM with a question... well, sometimes the wording in the question tips them off as a bit neurotic. People will note that, especially when it has to do with parenthood.

November/December/January birthdays are lousy because of the holidays.

If your kid wants to do any type of competitive sports, earlier in the calendar year is better.

Late summer/fall birthdays are worse for school—kid ends up being oldest or youngest in class depending on if you redshirt.

Late spring or summer! You save $ on a year of daycare, plus your kids get their birthday presents spaced out during the year instead of all Christmas and birthday being all clustered together (if you celebrate Christmas).

I think March or April. Not hot when very pregnant. Days are getting longer which makes the long nights much easier. And the days when you are very tired easier. Pleasant weather when they are teeny tiny so you can go on walks without worrying about over heating/sun block. By summer, you will be mostly recovered and the baby will be big enough to go to the pool a bit. Not going through flu/cold season with a newborn. Would be old enough to get a flu shot for first winter.
