Don't you have that on your resume? I don't have that on Linkedin (I graduate in 2010), but I have it on my resume. They want to know how much experience you have.

The Irony is that in the first three years after graduation, I was often told "you don't have relevant experience"; at age 25, I landed a higher caliber professional role and was told "you are already late by being 2 years older than your peers; during 25-30 it's about "not having enough experience" and from 30-35 it's about "not managing perceptions despite having good work product", then it's about being too experienced.

Jeez this never ends.

The point of what?

In this instance it wasn't on the resume and the recruiter asked. How is this responsive?

I'm 43, I dont gain anything by pretending to be 33, except people would be thinking I'm ageing very badly.

You hid an obvios fact from your resume?

Agree. It's weird. Dh is 50 and I am 46. We always have this on our resume.

It tells them how old you are and the vintage of your formal education, which matters a lot in some fields.
Does age discrimination happen? You betcha

People can look up your age on the internet. It is not a secret. It doesn't matter if the recruiter asked when you graduated from college.

How is it different than revealing the total years of experience? You can use that as a way to estimate age. You can also use graduation date as a way to estimate age. Neither is perfect as not everybody takes linear paths.

Many jobs require a college degree (in my mind they rarely should, but that is another issue) and require diploma as proof OR will call the school to check. None of this is in any way illegal.

I’ve see more and more younger folks leaving out graduation dates. Ageism is real, so this would be a positive trend in my opinion.

You are supposed to put your year of graduation on your resume. This is basic info.

Actually it’s not a requirement.

How cute you must be 35.

Newsflash:you are not required to disclose your age on your resume. Or your race, gender, or if you have any disabilities.

This will become relevant to you if you are looking for a job in about 15 years.
