They say that to your face because they have no choice. These volunteers are annoyed with you and frantically emailing the rest of the team to see who’s going to show for the game or if they have to forfeit. And the kid who has been looking forward to the game because this is their priority is really disappointed because you took away their only game for the week and their playing time.
the coach was at relays with us because his kid was also competing
That's ridiculous. He volunteered to coach. His responsibility was to coach his team, not pawn it off on some other parent or get the game rescheduled so he could watch his kid swim.
Bruh, even volunteers have conflicts from time to time and sometimes folks can't clone themselves and be in two places at once. Why don't you step up and volunteer?

Anonymous wrote:is he going to practices? The kids playing multiple sports/ ADP soccer killed my son's rec soccer team this past year. There was a whole group of kids that never went to a single practice b/c of conflicts with adp/ baseball. There was no observable difference in skill between the kids playing adp and the kids just doing rec. This group of kids would, however, show up for games- and the coach had to play them all equally. They didn't know how to play together at all and they badly lost every game. If you sign up to be a part of a team, you need to be part of the game. Can you miss a game or a practice? sure-- but don't sign up if you are going to have lots of conflicts.

She’s been on some teams where that’s not the case and so many players missing have resulted in forfeiting games. That is not fair to the kids who show up every game and where this rec team is their only sport.

Can you give us the sport, age and general area? Maybe we can help you find a Saturday option.
