DCPS has to report to CPS when a student has 10 unexcused absences. That starts in K though. For pre-K, they would schedule a meeting with the family after 5 unexcused absences.

Yeah - I would definitely not drop off whenever - super annoying to the teacher and makes it harder for your child.

There is a lot of benefit to encouraging your child to adjust to the structure, schedule and expectations of school. It is comforting to a child when they know what to expect. I would advise against “dropping off whenever”. Your child we have a tough transition to kindergarten if they were allowed to arrive whenever during pre-K.

I’d advise dropping off whenever. It can be disruptive to the teacher and the rest of the class. Maybe some schools don’t care, but I wouldn’t assume that. I found PK3 to be very different from daycare in that way.

Legally you have until I believe up to the minute before school ends, this is not special to PK. I teach K and I seriously had a parent bring their child at maybe a few min after 2:30…we dismiss K at 3:10.
