Some kids with access to lots of cash get hooked on hard drugs because they can afford to blow $300 or $500 on any given party night no problem. Then their parents start to catch on and cut off the cash flow, then they start buying merchandise using a credit card, then hocking it. Then goes the electronics, then car, maybe theft. . . At least that's how it worked in the 90s. I'm sure PayPal and gift cards can complicate things further somehow.
