Arlington boys parents appear to the closest thing we have to girls soccer parents on the boys side.

DS just graduated HS and got rostered onto a D1 program after playing 3 years varsity and several years travel (NCSL, CCL).
Agree with others: encourage your player to enjoy the experience.
As for coaches, they tend to focus on the U17 (HS juniors) and U16 (HS sophomores).
Your player should email the HC and assistant coaches, with an intro, uniform number, match schedule, and short highlight of soccer & academic achievements.
At some point, your player will share a highlight video. (Not needed now).
As your player and you research potential schools, please keep academics first.
Attending the college ID camp is invaluable.
Attending a regional or national ID camp also offers some value given multiple coaches can see your player.
Follow up with the coaches, whether from the ECNL playoffs, ID camp, or even varsity soccer, is important.
Your player needs to differentiate himself/herself from all the other interested students.
Good luck.

We've known that for quite awhile, now!
I have all sons, but to be real, soccer scholarships for boys are a non-starter and not many to great universities like the girls. At some point, boy parents realize this and chill the f*ck out.
The girls actually have options.

Yawn. If soccer is the option you are talking about, you are both wrong and myopic.
