I had just turned 31. My recovery, despite a 3rd degree tear, wasn't challenging.

I was 32. Postpartum with my first was rough--I had a long induction, ended up in the ER with mastitis 5 days after DS's birth, then experienced postpartum anxiety for a few weeks afterwards. Physical recovery lasted about 6 weeks.

21 months later I had DD. Postpartum recovery seemed to go more quickly; I was less anxious overall and lost the weight more easily. I ended up getting mastitis again, but this time I knew what the signs were and my OB was able to quickly call in an Rx for antibiotics, so I didn't have to go the ER a second time.

44. Getting pregnant was hard (emerging IVF testing identified the problem that led to eventual pregnancy). The pregnancy and delivery were uncomplicated; the recovery was easy but I had no expectations of a perfect body- just to get back to pre-pregnancy weight. DD is keeping me young and I am so glad we persevered.

29, vaginal, pretty easy recovery. (normal bleeding and discomfort but did not keep me from doing anything once I got home). I attribute to all the prenatal yoga.

20. Emergency C-section, premature baby. My incision ended up infected. Long recovery for both of us.

31. Emergency c-section. Painful slow recovery- about six months.

One month before I turned 40 for DC1 and a month before I turned 42 with DC2. Birth was relatively easy with both and no postpartum issues at all. Breastfeeding was/is easy for me too. I just got amazingly lucky with both.

31. I was up walking around normally within hours (which I now think is insane— why were people letting me just mosey around/make them coffee when I had given birth 24 hours before?!! ugh.)

26, typical c-section recovery. Not bad. Same at 29.

26, vaginal delivery, couldn’t sit for about 10 days afterwards. But the recovery from c- section for #3 at 40 was super easy.

35 and 38. I’m average shape and office job. Immediate postpartum was way easier than I expected. But then a few months later I felt crappy, anemic and hormonal lay off for a long time!
