SYC goes to Disney. I don't think a college recruiter has ever picked a player from the showcase though. Big waste of $$$.
Lol. You’re stupid as hell! That’s one of the nations biggest recruiting hub. Troll person^^^
Really? Then tell me who has gotten picked from this area at the "nations biggest recruiting hub" in the past couple of years?????
You do realize how stupid you sound, right? Perhaps you are unaware how recruiting works. It’s so rare that a player goes to one showcase and gets recruited and offered a roster spot for a Univeristy based on one showing. This is an event that draws hundreds of coaches and Elite level players so that they begin forging long-term recruiting relationships with one another — or solidifying their relationship by the coaches seeing how a player stacks up against other high level players from all corners of the nation. A player can be exposed to a coach that would never ever see them play outside of this tournament. So my question to you is how do you know that one of these SYC or NOVA players didn’t solidify their chances to play ncaa hall or benefit from the tournament?

Thank you for the sales pitch!
Still big waste of $$$. My kids will pick a college based on their academics not soccer.

I am going to assume the poster who wrote why dont the D1 schools just come in and take kids from .... was writing tongue in cheek. You alone are probably worthy of salvation.

Why colleges choose ANYONE outside of the MLSNext (formerly DA) or ECNL teams is beyond me. There's ZERO reason not to just call up Arlington, Bethesda, Loudoun, FCV, McLean, SYC, fill your spots and BAM. Done recruiting for the year. Why ANY school has to stoop so low as to recruit anyone from an EDP, CCL, NCSL team is beyond me. This would make recruiting so much more streamlined and quality of college teams would improve.
ECNL afraid to allow SYC to join cause they would smash through the league
MLS Next is a better platform than ECNL is for boys. SYC does not want to be in ECNL and the girls are now in ECNL via Union.
SYC parent here. If MLS Next was the best platform, we would've focused on MLS Next and not ECNL via VA Union.
Also, there are virtually no girls going to VA Union. I believe there's a total of nine or so, and they're all 2009, 2008, and 2007 (who were only at SYC this one year). There's no girls from SYC's 2006, 2005, 2004/2003 teams going to VA Union.
According to DCUM, SYC samba is going to play on the World Cup. See the development!
How dumb can you be?

Girls good enough for ECNL or DA/GA left years ago. Kids generally leave for ECNL clubs at U12 and U14. Very few latecomers to ECNL teams from non-ECNL teams at older ages.

2007 girls are rising U15's and again, any qualified SYC player left a couple of years ago. Assuming the 9 are from 08 and 09 teams that is half a starting roster. Also, it is more than likely a few 08's left SYC LAST year for ECNL and GA clubs.
There could still be other 08 and 09's who are going to clubs like VDA and Arlington. How many 08's left last year for ECNL or GA clubs? Any 09's leave a year early to get a foot in the door? Does that not factor in to how many quality players SYC may have developed? Just because they all don't go to Union doesn't mean SYC hasn't developed kids that clubs want.
i agree with the bold

Most of those teams have fared very well against ECNL teams when they’ve played them. Talent isn’t at all consolidated in this area.
