I'm a Comm prof so know quite a bit about Communication, Mass Communications, and Journalism programs everywhere and am happy to share what I know. Depending on what he's interested in and his grades/stats, he might look at either of the Annenberg Schools (Penn and USC), Grady (UGA), Moody (UT-Austin), or Medill (Northwestern). Below is the link to the list of all the programs accredited by AEJMC, which is the major professional association for journalism and mass comm scholars. NCA and ICA are the other two major professional associations, and they may have similar lists.

20 years ago, I would have said it is right there with the best programs in the country, but being in Missouri, the state GOP has gutted the university and it isn't nearly what it was. I would look to other schools first.
I'd agree with this. Medill is top dog, but I'd say Newhouse is a close second. USC is also solid, as are Temple, Ithaca, and Emerson.
I would think twice about Ithaca

Anonymous wrote:I know DCUM would frown but having spent 20 years in television production one of the strongest alumni networks was Temple University’s RTF school. Now not sure (knowing what I know now) I would NOT recommend anyone to enter that biz - but probably pretty similar feeling for a lot of professions.

I think he is most interested in the television, radio and film department at Newhouse but that could change.
