I don't really like the area very much--I think it would be hard to pay a premium for a place I wasn't super into (the way so many Coloradoans are *in love* with their state). Lots of people adore it though, so it's something you should check out!

My sister's family has lived there for the past 20 yrs and we visit them often. We've contemplated moving there a few times but decided to say put.

The real estate market was been heating up well before COVID, so don't expect that to be much different. The traffic can be awful depending on where you commute to work (like DC). And the winters are rough and looong! It's true that it has a crunchy hippie vibe at times, but not in a judgemental way.

Great space in the suburbs, lots of outdoors activities. A lot are into biking, hiking, skiing... My sisters moved twice in Denver, once school system was good, the first was awful.

If you are outdoorsy and not too uptight, and don't mind a ton of snow - might be a good escape from the DC rat race. We would have made the move but decided that we didn't want to unless we were certain that we were going to have a better HHI AND quality of life. I wouldn't take a pay cut to move there.

Yes, or within an hour or so (Boulder, Ft Collins, CO Springs).

Houses that were around 500-600K a year ago are now going for 800K and more.

Yeah, no. It is not a different kind of crazy and traffic is nothing compared to the DMV. But, loads of construction on I70.

You mean Menver? Lots of guys there...

Housing there is much like DC. Getting very hard to come by and extremely expensive. So if you’re looking for a lower cost of living, Denver is not the place for that.

We left dc for mountain west and never looked back. God damn it’s so wonderful and less stressful I can’t even explain it. Go. Run. Dc is toxic.

I live in Denver . I grew up in no. Va. I have been here 11 years. I am starting to hate Denver. Traffic is terrible….always construction or traffic at any time of the day. Schools are overcrowded and not great to be honest. Housing is really expensive, renting and buying. You’re nowhere near an ocean (may not be important to some but it is to me). So sad to see so many homeless people. It wasn’t like this when I first arrived. That’s my opinion though. I’m ready to leave.

FTC has horrible traffic, it’s not what it was 20-years ago. Everyone is moving there now. It used to be too far north, now people commute to Denver from FTC. I-25 northbound / southbound his horrible all the time - even Sunday afternoons you’re sitting in traffic.

Denver metro has become waaaay overcrowded and good luck finding a house you want in a town / city that’s nice. We’ve had multiple offers on our home and it’s not for sale or anything special (Boulder county). $100k over appraisal plus 12-mo of rent-back for free was our latest offer. It was a hard pass … if they have to go to that extreme, I don’t want to be on the other side looking for a home.

CO yes, but Denver no.

Yes because they have something like 300+ days of sunshine.

Are you outdoorsy? Can be hard to fit in if not.
