This reminds me of one of my all time favorite Modern Love columns (tried to link below). I found it when I was 33 years old and questioning why I was still single. It’s themed around a slightly different, but frustratingly common dating question (“what’s wrong with you/ me?”). But that’s honestly the underlying sentiment to, ”Why are you still single?” The right answers are nothing and because I am.

Fact is that there are loads of eligible single women but most eligible men get snapped up very quickly. It's a far more reasonable question to ask of a single straight man, though it's pretty rude either way.

This I have heard and had expressed; I just say thank you. Not the same as the question OP posed. If it’s what you’re suggesting I’d be a little less abrasive and I wouldn’t tell him about my glock.
