What’s the current case rate and death rate for this new variant in the US!?

My thoughts are if it is that transmissible then yes I will take my chances. Because if it evades vaccines then what is the end game? Stay inside for a few more years?

I've traveled through PA and western NY in the past week and I'm here to tell you - most people aren't wearing masks. Back in Maryland, I feel like most people are still wearing masks.

Wow - I am a life long germ phobe. I still mask up for anything indoors (even here in MoCo where cases are very low). But wow - some of the folks here make me look foot loose and fancy free as my grandma used to say. People, there are breakthrough cases, but they are a tiny percentage of the total number of vaccinated people.

The vaccines are really good. They really are! Where are you getting your news that you are so concerned about variants?

UK, Israel, and Canada news mostly re tons of vaccine breakthrough cases. Ok maybe you can discount UK bc they mostly used AZ. But Israel used Pfizer and Canada used some Pfizer (some AZ). Usually what's happened in these other places comes to America a few weeks later so I'm just looking 2-4 weeks down the road.

Isreal hasnt had a death gor a week. Even the UK, where delta has been dominating for weeks, has not seen any increase in deaths.

I probably will go back to double masking but I haven't yet. I'm still single masking everywhere I was before though (indoors) and have made no exceptions to that.

What I find myself doing unconsciously though is going out a bit less. Like you there was a time from post vaccine until 1/2 weeks ago where I was going out daily. I find myself pulling back a bit. Nothing crazy like last year where I wouldn't go places for weeks at a time. Now it's more like go out every 4 or so days -- stack up errands, try to get back to more curbside pick ups etc. With masking pretty much done and Delta at now 30% of cases, I really don't want to be out as much.

There are no risks if you’re vaccinated

To answer your question, op- I’ll never wear a mask again

NP. The bold is pure fantasy. The vaccine is a miracle but NOT perfect. It prevents serious illness and hospitalizations but does not mean "you'll never get the virus." One can have the virus asymptomatically after being vaccinated and studies are still under way on whether vaccinated people are able to transmit the virus to others and if so, how serious it is. You are incredibly ignorant.

To OP, I am vaxxed and still avoid crowds outside and do indoor shopping etc. only as I truly need to. Not nearly as isolated as last year but yes, I'm cautious and I do mask indoors but not double masks. You are right, though, to take Delta seriously. We have relatives abroad in a country where they were believing they had the pandemic licked and now Delta is causing positive cases to soar again (the UK--where they were bragging about ending their so-called lame "Lockdown" tomorrow yet it was just extended another month due to Delta plus people not vaccinating plus people acting like there was no lockdown....

I can know I'm vaccinated but I can't know if the unmasked person near me is vaccinated or not. We are using a pinky-swear honor system saying "unvaccinated folks please wear a mask." We all know that there are going to be unvaxxed people out there unmasked and going around as if there's never been a pandemic at all. They're the ones who will end up spreading Delta. While my vaccination likely protects me pretty well against Delta, I don't mind masking, so I'm going out more but still going to mask. Singles only but mine have a changeable filter inside.

Nope. Perhaps if you are super vulnerable and very high risk. Other people? Nope.

Some of you people truly don't know how to live without having something to be anxious about. It's your "normal."

Nope. I’m fully vaccinated. I’m not wearing a mask anywhere it’s not required. And it feels great!

Yes; going back to double mask.

Delta is highly virulent, deadly, and the vaccines offer only partial protection.

Not risking it.

No, it’s not the “beginning.” This started a year and a half ago. Omg the delta strain is just what the covid crazies were hoping for.

NP here - lol I'm not hoping for it. I'd love for this all to disappear tomorrow and I'm back in my office without capacity limits, no masks etc. But we just don't know if Delta will surge. Reality is though UK was supposed to be a HUGE surge etc. and then pleasantly it really wasn't -- at least not in this area/on the east coast. Fingers crossed this is the same because our vax rate here is 70%+ and will probably continue to inch up a bit here and there.

No. I wear on planes and public transportation/Uber where it is required but other than that no masks.
