No, my kids have play dates but only with children whose parents we know are vaccinated. Luckily that’s everyone we used to play with pre-covid. We aren’t restricted to anything except the grocery store.

They are people who don’t understand seasonality. Hopefully vaccinations increase and there is enough immunity that we don’t have much of a seasonal bump. AZ had a bump last June and they are okay so far. So hopefully we son’t see much of a wave in the fall. Agree now is quite safe.

Op, I was like you that I restricted my 2 kids staying at home last year, and not really taking them anywhere before. I regret so much that I missed the last summer low covid case time period that we should have taken advantage of it a little bit. This year summer, we, vaccinated parents, have been taking them to outdoor (all of us masked) walking around to department stores, play on playgrounds, and enrolling them summer camps to social with kids. We are thinking to go to water splash park one day outdoor and maybe hanging out with vaccinated families with unvaccinated kids of similar age indoor and outdoor. We bought so many sanitizing wipes/sprays to wipe their hands and non-sanitizing wipes to wipe their face when we are outdoor.

We are guessing that there will be mostly a spike of covid in the fall this year ( with the new mutated covid) and then we will step back and cut down all fun activities. My kids are 2 and 5, and they both can wear masks for hours. We don’t do libraries because we bought hundreds of books online whenever there is sale. 2 year old can lick and bite whichever book she wants.

Have you read the data for yourself? I suggest combing through it and trying to get a handle on your personal risk relative to other daily risks you have taken in the past. Please find a good therapist. I am so sorry you are suffering.

I know a lot of people who work in the field. The variants that are coming are more aggressive. And outdoor interactions now are prolonged, as compared with earlier in the pandemic. We will probably continue masking through to next spring. Breakthrough infections are a thing. Long haul symptoms after asymptomatic infections are a thing. Lack of data about long term effects and about variants is a consideration. Our kids are doing great and not missing out on a thing, so we don’t mind being cautious a little longer. Our exceptions for masks are visits to close family, eating with vaxxed friends, swim lessons. Everything else they can enjoy masked.

They don't go in stores. Did your infant have any reactions (fussy, fatigue, irritability etc.) while BF after you were vaccinated?

There are some bad respiratory viruses going around now. Therefore, we are outdoors only, indoors in stores with mask and hand sanitizer. Not worried about Covid right now, but all the other stuff that is back.
