An IQ that high is almost 1 in 10,000. So no it's not real. What would a person like that being doing trolling on this silly website?

I couldn’t tell you anything about IQ numbers but wouldn’t it make sense for two people with very high IQs to meet, say in a math PhD program, and get married? Doesn’t seem impossible to me.

My husband is brilliant and we both were very academically successful. I have 3 Ivy degrees (and not Cornell, FWIW) and he is routinely called the smartest person others know (kind of in an evil genius way ... except he’s not evil). I am a homeschooling mom now and I can tell my oldest is very smart. He’s almost 7. It’s not because he’s a whiz at anything, it’s more because he has an intense interest in learning and processes information so well. Hard to tell with my younger 2 as they’re just too young.

It's been interesting so far is that my husband and I were both advanced readers but our daughter is pretty mediocre in reading but very advanced in math.

Spouse and I both went to private schools (in different parts of the country) and IQ testing was a component of admissions testing in our cases. I happen to remember mine and my MIL still brags about DH’s 🙃.

Nearly identical profiles in my house. However, I have much higher executive functioning skills than son and spouse, so school was significantly easier for me than for them. DD seems to have hit the jackpot and have high IQ and EF skills! We, too, are all likely lower than norm with EQ .

Pp here. In response to the original question, yes of course spouse probably matters. Intelligence is highly heritable from both sides. Mother effect a PP mentioned probably true. But there is a lot of variance and we only have 2 kids so chance is also a big factor. Again, doubt asking this question at a thread level will gain you much insight.

honestly? ours is a case of regression to the mean. perfectly average brain (technically smart by DCPS standards, but we all know that means nothing), but more athletic than we were. honestly, I think he'll enjoy his childhood more than we did.

Both DH and I tested above 160 on it tests growing up (with siblings testing similar) so quite IQ-smart from both sides. Our daughter seems about the same, but with stronger social and emotional intelligence. Our son is pretty obviously significantly more intelligent than the rest of us. Fortunately we feel he’s using his smarts for good.

So every kid here is extremely bright and well above average? Hate to break it to you guys but that statistically isn't possible.

My husband and I are a tad smarter than average. Our kids are both very very bright (and I’m not just saying that). We always laugh and say didn’t get it from us!

DH and I are both intelligent but I’m sure DS is way smarter than we were. He’s exceptionally bright. Can’t tell with DD yet.
