Sure she will. Wait until Sunday when she’s exhausted and she’ll take it and run.

If I was doing this for a close family friend, I would have a hard time taking cash. I assume the friend enjoys spend ing time with the kids. If I were watching a niece, I would just do it.

No one except the parents enjoys spending a long weekend with unrelated toddler and 4 yr old. It’s an enormous amount of work and stress for a friend. I would have no trouble at all accepting $1500. And as an employer, I would simply insist she take it.

Disagree, I've done that and more.

I would pay her more than $75/overnight for two children.

Seventy-five dollars is just too low….

I can see myself doing this for my boss when I was in my 20s and then not getting paid much either and feeling pressured into doing it again. Pay well, especially since she's also your "real" employee.

Flat rate, OP. This counting hours when the kids are awake is ridiculous. She’s a babysitter. She can’t leave and gets paid for just being there awake or asleep.

$1000 for the weekend is fair but not generous.

I would say $20 an hour for hours she’s awake. I used to charge hourly until 11pm then again at 7am. Flare rare of $75 for the overnight portion ( so $150 for the 2 overnights) If the kids happen to be awake during the overnight the hourly rate kicks in. I never charged people while I was sleeping. I charge the flat overnight rate because I’m not in my own bed and an “ on call” if they wake up.

Rethink the part where the sitter arrives after the kids are asleep, then they wake up to this strange person in their house instead of mom and dad. Better to arrange for the sitter to come at dinnertime and help with bath/books/bed.

$20. I pay $15/hr but my kids are 8 and 6 so much more self sufficient.
