Another librarian here. Overall, I am happy with my career choice. I will never be making a ton of money, but overall the work is engaging and the work-life balance is great.

I make online trainings for a big company. Someone sends me a Word doc of what they want employees to learn, and I make 3-5 minute cartoons teaching them how to do it. I have about 75% creative control, so I love the challenge of making boring things fun and infusing them with pop culture references.

I work with a lot of young, really smart developers who create websites and apps. I am an analyst. I am the go-between between them and the "business heads who know the business. I am 40+ and it keeps me young and thinking young. They talk about their pets and traveling with their parents, going to their friends' weddings, playing video games, etc. ( of course a lot of those examples was from past years).

I'm an optimist, I find the world really interesting and generally good, and my job is not my identity.

Most jobs require skill (even "unskilled" work) and serve a purpose, which is enough to make them interesting. Since work is a means to an end, I'm happy to do a variety of things. I became a lawyer because it played to my existing skills and is physically undemanding -- basically, it's easy for me. I care about doing a good job and I like practicing law but I don't particularly care about the label "lawyer."

I do! I started at my company as an intern 18 years ago and am now senior management, just below the CEO (which is a job I DON'T want, so feeling like I'm comfortably as high as I ever desire to go may be part of my satisfaction). I'm in administration. I've worn a lot of different hats in my time here and worked in several departments, which I think (hope) makes me a good administrator because I really understand what almost all my colleagues do and can appreciate their work. And as the PP who said they're in senior management said, I like the strategic planning aspects, being a resource for staff, working behind the scenes to make everyone else's work easier and more efficient, etc. Pay isn't great by DCUM standards, but I have a ton of flexibility and make enough to pay the bills so no complaints there.

Same. In house counsel. The pay is good, the stress is low, I can find things that I enjoy daily and I don't think about work after I close my laptop. What's not to like? I gotta do something all day

I’m in house and love my job, but there is a moderate amount of stress. I’m a naturally stressed/anxious person, so I’d likely have stress with any job. My job is interesting, I work with great people, have stability and make pretty good money.

I am in HR and used to love my job. This year has been hell, though.

I am an elementary special ed teacher. Most of the time I love my job but when it's bad it's really, really bad (dangerous)

I am a lobbyist for an organization that supports something I believe in and I love my job. It's flexible, fun, challenging, always changing...

But like the lawyer PP (I am also a lawyer) - I generally love work. I do find a lot of identity in it and really enjoy contributing and interacting in a way that I cannot without working. I have had a lot of jobs I have loved, mostly in leg affairs. I can be happy doing lots of different types of work... the single factor that generally makes a job bad for me in poor managers. If I have a good manager, I can be happy doing most things.

I can't complain about my job, good salary, low work load, control over my own scheduling. But I have also been doing it for a while now so I am looking for something different. It really bothers me that I can't score any interviews.
