I worked for a cleaning company in the OBX decades ago during summers in college. My job was to come in behind the cleaners to make sure the house was ready to go.

Your expectations are way too high. Cleaners are opening kitchen cabinets to put dishes away. That’s it. They’re not cleaning them out. Bathrooms they should open to check to make sure they’re empty but again they’re not wiping all of them down. They don’t have time. They miss things some times. It happens.

The meat in the cabinet is gross but if they didn’t have to put dishes away in that one they wouldn’t have known it was there.

If surfaces, bathrooms and bedrooms were clean I’d be happy. It could have been a lot worse.

We just use paper and plastic.

It sounds like you Bc are renting a cheap place and most of the clientele is trashy. Literally.

What's the price point and location of the rental? Clleaning companies cut corners on 10,000/week rentals.

That sounds disgusting and especially if it is managed by an adjacent hotel I would expect much better and complain. I am leery of vacation rentals for this reason although I’ve had good luck the few times we’ve done it.

This sounds foul. I have encountered dishes that weren't washed well and floors where they missed a vaccum spot. I would complain. Who leaves raw meat in a cupboard?

No that is legitimately gross. I would complain to the owner. It may be a reflection of the labor shortages.

Yeah, we run dishes, glasses and silverware through the dishwasher the first night before we use them. Been in many, many rental houses, and those are not always clean.

Sounds very gross and I don't think you are being picky at all. I can accept a certain level of mistakes/something overlooked, but not all that.

If it's part of this hotel, it's likely they had workers staying in it until it could be rented out. I would tell the manager all of it. They need to know.

I wouldn’t wait until you leave to say something.

We always bring pots, wine glasses and knives.

Is the medicine something like Tylenol? Maybe they thought it would get used? I would not throw out their pans even if they’re in bad shape.
