None to STA or Landon? That's odd.

Not sure why it isn’t on the list but kids are headed to Whitman, Churchill, and BCC.

+1 on each of the above...

Thx but you misinterpreted my post. To be more clear, isn't there also a student going to Langley HS (it wasn't on the OP's list).

Very surprised to see Whittle on this list. Do people not do any research?

FYI - there are plenty of students who transfer from public to Norwood in LS/MS, return to their local public for HS and thrive. I have never heard anyone complain or even mention that they felt Norwood was a sheltered environment that prevented them from succeeding elsewhere.

Note that the lack of public on this list is most likely a COVID blip.

That said - I have also seen cases where top students that needed financial aid had more difficulties getting into the most competitive privates. That said, as far as I can tell, they all did just fine wherever they landed. This was true whether that be their public HS, or a private HS that was less competitive than their original list...but a private that was willing to invest in a great student who would be a great addition to their school community.

Placement has a alot to do with money, URM, sports and academics. I heard of a kid who was the top of the class at Norwood, strong nice kid. Needed significant aid - and got waitlisted at all the schools. This family was devastated. NO reflection of Norwood - but I often wonder where the kid ended up and how they managed public after being in such a sheltered environment.

Last year a bunch went to Whittle. I’m thinking fewer will this year.

Indeed a Norwood kid would not typically adapt to the harsh realities of life featured in public school. This is not a criticism to Norwood which seems a solid caring place where kids blossom. I guess the more concerning situation is if the kid is not from a very wealthy family, goes to Norwood and ends up in a private (some on the list) that are not very prestigious or very strong academically. People (and college admissions) know which schools absorb those. In this case, parents are just postponing the day of reckoning and going to Whitman back in high could have been the best choice.

The number that attend Sidwell varies (as it does for all other outplacement at the "Big" schools). There are years when not all Sidwell admits choose to attend Sidwell. I've seen it range from 1-5 over my time there. Both 1 and 5 less likely than 3-4.

Clarification - this is the number that attend (as I wouldn't know who was accepted but chose not to go for graduating classes I don't know well).
