If the party clearly was planned and had a guest list, and then I got invited later (day before a birthday party, two weeks before a wedding), I generally just politely decline. I have never felt comfortable at an event when I got invited last minute, and so I just stopped going. I am normal and social and have lots of friends, BTW.

This could be it. She texted all 6 of you at the same time. It's not like she texted just OP at the last minute. A check for $20.21 would be fine to drop off if you need a gift.
