We just hired a full nanny for one infant starting her at $23 an hour, she is very good. We offered her a $1 raise every 6 months, but I also told her my older kids went to preschool at 18 months, I would expect to send our baby pretty early to preschool school too. It is very rare a nanny can be with a family for 5 years, something always happens. With my order twins, we had 4 different nannies from infant to 18 months. I hope our current nanny will stay with us for 18 months, so I made a more attractive offer of an raise every 6 months.

Yep. We paid $25 per hour for 1 child. It was such a luxury. She came while I was still getting ready for work. I didn't need to have my kid dressed and out the door with me. She also did all of his laundry and sheets. This ended when he went to preschool.

Wait this is for two kids. Yes $25 an hour is actually the best you will get. Most I know who are doing nanny shares or multiple kids are paying $26-30 an hour.

If you can't afford $25 with annual increases, I'm not sure you can afford a nanny.

Could you do daycare instead?

Yes, you do need to give COL raises annually plus merit. Same as your job, no doubt.

That said, I do know quite a few wonderful and loving Spanish speaking nannies who are less expensive.

For us the inability to read to our child and no text messaging made us choose a $25 an hour nanny two and a half years ago.

After taxes, bonuses and insurance etc, how much does that work out to all in for a year?
