Agree but will be honest, most teenagers are interested in reach schools athletically. We signed up our DD for 1 or 2 local D1 ID camps early, the summer before Freshman year HS to give them a chance to prepare and see what their competition will be vs. players outside the region. It's intimidating but a good experience to play up and attend a camp they are somewhere low or in the middle of talent on. That will be most players' reality as they compete nationally.

All you are doing is help fund underfunded athletic departments buy balls, winter gear etc.

Sure some kids might get recognized but it is a revenue generator for the team.

It seems to be generated from GotSoccer rosters, I assumed they sold the emails addresses.

Daughter had coaches walk up to her and gave her their card after they watched a game, and then later received texts from coaches that observed her, and this one was during COVID last summer,( all D3 of course ). But it's a start. She was a rising sophomore at that time. Planning to do one or two this summer as a rising junior and D1's in attendance. All in all a good experience if you have the time and funds.
Also heard it's a good idea to email coaches in advance of the schools the child is particularly interested in so coach will observe. We will try that this year.
