APS has not been operating under normal circumstances. Even when they do, sometimes it is possible that kids actually earn “B”s. Chill out.

I haven't seen any signs that APS will be able to operate "under normal circumstances" next school year either. There's no reason to think that they won't be leadership failures again next year. Why change anyway? They get cheered on by apologists and excuse makers.

It was tough for kids to stay on top of assignments with Canvas. It required a huge leap in EF skills.

I ended up scanning canvas and parentvue myself every week to see if anything was missed. My kid was trying so hard and still missed an assignment here or there. Not all could be turned in late, but some could.

It sucks to lose a grade level just because you submitted something for a big project but the attachment wasn’t there and you didn’t immediately see the “feedback” from the teacher on canvas.

It was a tough year.

OP here. I mentioned the grades to make the opposite point. It is so not his grades we’re mad about. (To make sure the nasty readers didn’t blame my complaints on sour grapes). No, it’s not the grades at all. It’s the management of the school dropping the ball at every play and then pinning the blame on the kids alll the time. It’s a horrible time for all of us. “We’re all in this together and we just need your patience” they say. But they got no patience for my kid.

How are you so certain that your child had nothing to do with his “B”s?

I just talked to a parent who said their child has straight As, but she’s going to push her further because she cann do better. Very typically Arlington.

Instead, my kid's teacher told her class of 7 yos that parents who picked hybrid wanted teachers to get sick and die. She told them that she felt unsafe and burst into tears.

I call absolute B.S. on this one, too.
