I am the moron. I actually don't care if under 12 wear masks at the pool. If my kids were that age, I would not have them wear a mask at the pool NVSL seems to want everyone masked, so I argue at least vaccinated people should be able to go unmasked and the under 12 would understand why they can't

Yes it can change. How do you think we got FCPS to eventually open in person? Back in August the CDC said schools could open safely in person with masks, distancing and small class sizes.

Now CDC is saying it is safe for vaccinated people to go maskless almost anywhere, and definitely outside.

I just don't get why NVSL seems to think they know more about public health, health policy and medicien the CDC or the Virginia Dept of Health.

You all make me feel better knowing that there are people even more crazy than MCSL, who are not requiring masks. They actually put it to a vote and it was rejected by the team reps.

Does that mean they are planning to engage in the silly theater of having kids wear masks to the starting blocks, and putting their masks in a plastic bag- to blow around while they swim, and then slowing down the meet to have 8 and unders swim back to the other side to retrieve their masks before getting out? All in an outdoor setting with covid rates approaching zero????????

Yep. It’s going to be hard to get timers and officials. Why would someone time in a mask when they can just watch maskless.

If pools still won't allow spectators that might be an incentive.

Or will they change this policy too? My understanding is that this might depend on the particular pool.

Spectator policies are left up to the individual pools

I am so over the NoVA uber liberals who want to wear masks for the rest of their lives.

I don't have to wear a mask to shop indoors or at the gym, but i need to ear one outside in the summer at a swim meet. Zero logic. i am tired of catering to the feears of the highly anxious.

It is ridiculous to require masks when pools, swim practices, and B meets aren’t. Everyone is already exposed and together all day. My swimmer dive and divers swim. They will be crossing practices. If they want to be overly cautious just ask for A meet officials / workers who are vaccinated.

precisely. I'm fully vaccinated and its outside. I'll officiate at B meets without a mask- I'm not standing on the desk in the hot sun with a mask on to appease someone's irrational fears. I would have worn a mask without blinking last summer.
