the only difference is you should soak the dried beans for a day or two ahead of time, or plan on cooking it a LOT longer, or use a pressure cooker. everything else should stay the same.
i'm of the belief that you really don't need a recipe to make chili as long as you include chipotles in adobo sauce (buy it in a small can) and, if you have it, about a half a can of beer.
besides that, any combo of bell/hot peppers, onions, garlic, ground meat, canned tomatoes, and beans will work, on the stove or in a crockpot.
