Some people have six kids of their own. I don’t happen to, some of these kids are my nieces and nephews who I watch in the summer, but it’s not unheard of. Do you think they take two cars whenever they go anyplace?

I'm not the PP you are responding to, but at my church there are a lot of big families with 6+ kids (I know several with 11+.) They all have 15 passenger vans. They are really tall and won't fit in a standard garage. If you'll only be transporting this many people occasionally over the summer, it's probably not practical to buy a 15 passenger van.
Personally, I wouldn't plan to purchase something so major based on doing a favor for someone else (since you say you watch your nieces and nephews over the summer.)
I get that they are family, but that's a really big ask of your siblings when it involves such a huge investment.
Personally, I'd just keep whatever car you have now (or if you are in need of a new car anyway, buy what works best for you) and ask your siblings to contribute towards the daily rental of a 15 passenger van on the days you want to go out for outings in the summer.

I would get one of the 8 seater mini vans. I'd put driver and grandparent in front seats, the 2 boosters and carseat in middle 3 (and I'd be willing to buy new ones if current ones didn't fit well) and put teens in the back.

It might be tight in the back, but they are teens and will survive!

How would the teens get in the back? Would OP have to remove a car seat each time?

if it's a booster, you can still move the seats forward with them in place

My grandparents' last couple of vehicles were minivans. Definitely the way to go. My cousin got the last one after my grandma couldn't drive anymore.

Love my Sienna, personally. We need AWD where we live so ours only seats 7, but DS is 6 ft 2 and is comfortable in it.

My mom in her 80s had no problem getting into the second row captains seat in the odyssey. There’s a handle on the doorframe that help.

2021 Subaru Ascent - 8 passengers and lower than a normal SUV

We have a 2015 Toyota Sienna with 8 seats. The middle has 2 captain chairs with a jumper you can install/remove as needed. The third row is bench seat. My husband has sat in the 3rd row without too much issue. Probably the most uncomfortable seat is the jumper seat because its very narrow. It would be good for a teen/slender adult.

It's not an option on all models, but we have an Odyseey that can seat 8. You have to skip captains chairs. The middle seat in the 2nd row is removeable if you want easy access to the 3rd row. My kids don't mind scrambling over or getting in through the trunk though.

I think I'd invest in some sturdy collapsible stairs to help the 80 year old in and out if it's too high. That will be an issue with any car large enough though.

Np my odyssey has captains chairs and still seats 8. The middle of the second row isn’t as comfortable.

The captains chairs flip forward to allow access to the rear- no need to scramble or climb over chairs. But that means you can’t have a car seat on one of the captains chairs.

Yes, look at the minivans that seat 8 and measure how high the floor is. You can also look at handi-steps that fold and can be put in the back, and used when your elder needs to use the car. There are also straps and handles that you can attach to your vehicle to make getting in and out easier.

All Odysseys seat 8. The captains chairs are very comfy for elderly. Teens can fit in the back still
