Did anyone noticed a lot of new outside players at tryouts?

This is a little frustrating to me. My son was on the red team, but we aren't interested in MLS Next. We don't like the substiution rules, and the additional travel does not sound appealing. We also can't do the fourth day of practice without giving up his other sport. Unfortunately, it seems like his only option is to play with a less competitive team of players (the new red team, which I imagine will be largely the current white team). I guess it is what it is, but this isn't a good change for us personally.

The substitution rule for U13 and up is ridiculous.

Yes, it seems that MLSNext makes the decision point regarding playing multiple sports come earlier. Back in the day, you could play basketball, baseball and one other sport throughout the year up through high school. This does not happen anymore and it seems the specialization decision gets earlier and earlier.

True, but the red team seems like a good fit for impact players not yet sure of which sport (if any) to specialize in, no? EDP/CCL plus VA State Cup should make for a competitive season plus regular scrimmages against the MLS/Next team (I'm guessing) to stay on the radar.

The 'not interested in mlsnext' is what is said to save face when the kid doesn't make the team.

Well, since he didn't try out, of couse he didn't. It's not for us.

I'm sure the white team parents will welcome you with open arms with that kind of shitty attitude. Plenty of white team are at a higher level than some red but politics abound.

Actually you might want to try part time option, like future player.

No. What club do you represent? The one with uge turnouts?

So you don’t actually know what you’re talking about. Thanks. Can anyone shed some actual light instead of being a knucklehead?

Alexandria MLSNext teams do not play in any other leagues other than the MLSNext League - https://www.mlssoccer.com/mlsnext/competitions

Alexandria teams for ages U13 and above will be MLSNext, Alexandria Red, Alexandria White, Alexandria Blue, Alexandria Black and Alexandria Silver.

The team you play on determines the league the team is playing in. More information can be found here - https://alexandria-soccer.org/programs/academy/academy-resources/

Alexandria Red U12's play in the EDP and CCL currently
Alexandria White U12's plays in the NCSL Division 1
Alexandria Blue U12's plays in the NCSL Division 2
Alexandria Black U12's and Silver play in the NCSL Division 5

All this shifts at U13 and the top team will be the MLSNext team and the second team will be red and so on.

Is Alexandria going to play in both MLS Next and CCL?

Not like SYC, zero information on MLS Next except for tryout dates on their website.

Wish they’d be more specific about price. They seem to dance around that topic but not state specifically. Is it going to be $3k for this before travel and tournaments? Also, how many of the games are going to be in NJ/PA next year?

Alexandria does not charge additional for tournaments and does not estimate travel costs. Less than 3000 means it will vary by age group. If you have the offer, you know, and if you don’t, you will find out when you get it. You can get an idea about the schedule by looking at this year’s mls next schedule for the mid Atlantic. It will obviously vary by age and could change depending on how they actually set the schedule this summer. I would assume one third of matches would be north of Baltimore.

The statement that Alexandria does not charge for additional tournaments is false. If your team is doing something beyond the allotted tournaments, you will pay more. I do find it silly that you only get the price after they give you an offer. Does this mean different kids pay different prices? The lack of transparency is concerning.

Same price for all kids on the same team. Prices are higher for older age groups because they train an additional day a week. Stop your BS. The price is the price. No extras beyond the price tor tournament fees. It’s part of the total price.

Anything other false concerns and lies we can address for you?
