We just looked at a home today that had a gorgeous gunite pool, quite large, double kidney shape, with extensive travertine surround. Sellers said it cost them 220k a couple years ago . South of DC

From the records of previous sellers, the pool alone was $65k, and this was 15 years ago.

By the way, the saltwater feature itself isn't expensive. I like it, though, and recommend it.

Is the pool vinyl or gunite?

I quoted one pre pandenic in fall of 2018. For a basic model rectangler salt water pool with heater and auto cover with just cement around pool edge was $120k all in.

I ended doing a semi inground pool in spring 2019. I also considered fiberglass pool and swim spa. But even those options have risen in price. Mainly less sales.

They well a new thing only one company I think makes is a semi inground salt water pool that can go 100 percent below ground. It looks just like inground. Main advantage cheaper, quicker to install plus you could actually remove liner and sides your self one day and hire someone to fill in hole. They last line 20-30 years. Technically not permanent.

Pool factory, pool supply world, endless pools, swim spa, semi inground and fiberglass pool are all places to query.

Am inground fiberglass pool costs same as cement inground. They are easier to install, River pools and manufacturer often do it and quicker. Key part is that route could swim this summer inground. Hotels use them as maint is less and install quicker. Most likely you had no clue when in one

Says the person who installed their pool in 1995

It’s a 10 x 16 spa, not a normal sized pool. $45k sounds about right.
