The story of the mother and child being shot in front of their home by a stranger should shake some people up- it's horrifying. They were shot in front of their husband/dad and other sibling, all over a scooter being parked on the block by an obviously really bad guy. It's time to leave DC. Take your tax dollars and join me away from the city. The council, the mayor, no one else will listen or do anything about the problems. Even if they catch the guy who shot this family, good luck seeing actual justice done. It'll be like the Uber Eats driver who was killed, and the perps got, what, a 2-4 years? Vote with your feet!!
I could not be any more horrified at people like you using events like this to push an agenda. I could google and list a ton of disturbing crimes that have happened in Bethesda, Potomac, Falls Church or whatever suburb you fled to. Crime is not unique to a city. You are gross and I am actually glad you left our city.
How many homicides have occurred in the City of Falls Church over the last 30 years?

NP. You do you. But I’m horrified that DC has gotten significantly less safe in the past 12 months. A mother and young son were shot in broad daylight in their front yard. An Uber driver died in an armed car jacking. Members of the city council were car jacked in the middle of the day. Enough is enough. You think this happens in the burbs?
+1. An armed robbery happened in broad daylight (11:00 a.m.) last Friday morning in Cleveland Park. Does everyone know about that?!

Anonymous wrote:OP here. I wrote to CM Allen over and over again to no avail. I wrote to the police. I did my part. At some point, you gotta walk and stop contributing to the problem by propping it up with your tax dollars. Vote with your feet- cut the money off and leave the clowns in that city with one less victim to harass/harm.
For those who want to stay, good luck staying in the District. It's a personal choice I wouldn't advise my loved ones to make.

Even with mass shootings, the suburbs are categorically safer. Even if we had 10x the number of school shootings, all in the suburbs. They'd still be safer.
Not for the UMC/MC - the mass shootings are almost all targeting like-minded socioeconomic people in those neighborhoods. The shooters are targeting their own schools, their own churchs, their own grocery stores, their own workplaces.
In the city the victim of a shooting is most likely to be poor and/or in extremely violent circumstances already.

unless you stretch the time frame, that's a very doubtful statement
