I will second this. Do not wear brand new cleats at tryouts. Wear what you are used to wearing, so you know how they feel and perform. Break in new cleats at practice.

My kid looked like crap at one tryout when he insisted on wearing brand new laceless cleats. He was shuffling like he was wearing house slippers, running like he was in quick sand. Just awful.

I magic erased and returned those things the next day. Thankfully, he recovered enough in his old cleats at subsequent tryouts to make the team.


LOL! I chuckled at this visual. Sorry for your ds but thanks for the laugh.


Oh--we laughed about it too!! He even tried to blame it on getting stepped on because he loved the way those cleats looked, but finally admitted they only 'looked good'.
