I think we should hear today if we take Friday as the end of the week. Good luck everyone.

Nothing yet for girls. But seems like there are a lot more boys than girls seeking spots.

Anyone heard anything yet? I did see the email about possibly adding more teams for 2013 based on tryout #s!

Agree with PP, I think that's a standard email. It's a different approach than they used to use, I remember the year my DD didn't get in, they just posted a list of everyone who made it and we had to skim the list to see our DD's name wasn't there!

I don’t have any special insight, but I think everyone got that e-mail. I think it will take them a few days to form 6 boy and 6 girl evenly-matched teams.

I was there for the boys tryout but couldn’t hear much! That said, I think they have 6 teams per year and let’s say 12 kids per team, that’s 72 boys and 72 girls, roughly. I couldn’t tell how many boys showed up but I’d say 80-100. So they probably take 75%+. My older kid didn’t get in the first year trying out but I think that’s because I didn’t quite realize you really were supposed to go to both tryouts and we only made one.

A rec teammate took DD to the second tryout. She told me that a coach (presumably the director?) announced that “most” girls would make ADP. Can a grown up verify that?

Seems like a strange thing to say since it would make any girl who didn’t make it feel worse 🤔.

Anyone have thoughts after the second tryout? I was trying to parse the movement of the boys to different groups but couldn't nail down a pattern. I guess I will just have to wait to find out the results! DS was pretty nervous so I'm not sure how he did.

Interesting, the number of boys seemed about the same!

Hot practice for the girls tonight, and not nearly as many players as last week. Did anyone hear any new information? Will all the girls be placed?

He told the girl parents that we would hear within a week.

Yes it is. Here are some tips - listen to the coaches by looking at them in the eye when they're talking, get the ball when it goes out of bounds, don't show off with big kicks unless you can control where it goes - they want team players not showoffs, show you can be a good teammate by giving feedback or communicating to "teammates". Goodluck!

Thank you! I told my son to be a good listener and that the coaches probably wanted to see the boys hustling and showing that they really wanted to be there, in addition to soccer skills (which are kind of hard to demonstrate on those little playing areas).

Psst! Those little playing areas are great for demonstrating soccer skills -- either you have the footskills to control the ball and receive/pass it accurately, or you don't. Smaller area = less margin for error, and the coaches want to see what players make of that.

Quoted PP here, maybe it was just the group my son was in, but they were basically just moving around the mini-field in a cluster and kicking the ball out of bounds every 5 seconds! In theory my son would've tried to position somewhere else on the field for better spacing (he was pretty solid in that regard in rec) but I think because it was a tryout he was wanting to get contact with the ball (which, if everyone is doing that results in the maddening cluster of kids). That's a good point about some ballhandling skills being more visible in that regard, though!
