So, I guess I am mostly looking for comfortable yet stylish summer clothes. As far as his personality, he is not sporty, but he is pretty outdoorsy. We need help with all of it...shirts, shorts, socks, shoes. Although I’m focusing on summer clothes right now, I really struggle with finding him comfortable pants that fit him well. He is very slender and has long legs. He likes to wear sweats all winter, but I can’t find any that fit him well.

He’s going to grow so quickly, that for right now you just buy him the things he likes to wear now. If he changes his style, you buy the next clothes in the new size.

Maybe not but they should. It's part of training to be an adult. Like cleaning the bathroom and doing your own laundry. If you don't trust your kid to handle it then go with them but let them do the choosing and financial calculating.

Those of you who told me to chill out, he’s not a doll, etc...please know that I was not upset or worked up at all. I was simply asking for clothes recommendations to add some variety to my son’s wardrobe. He has outgrown everything so he needs all new clothes anyway. I ordered a few Hurley, Patagonia, and North Face shirts today. It’s a start.

I have a rising freshman guy who wears the standard uniform too. From what I saw of my older dd's classmates the transition from middle to high school didn't change how anybody dressed right away, it's more an issue of getting there, looking around, and figuring out what they want to add to their wardrobes which will have a lot to do with who they are in high school. Sporty kids continue to mostly wear sporty clothes, artsy/music kids wear more vintage t-shirts etc. But seriously the bar is LOW for teenage boy style. So just let him wear what he wants and feel confident that he'll let you know when and how its time to add to wardrobe.

My mom took me school shopping
It was me, my brother, my mom, oh, my pop, and my little sister
All hopped in the car
We headed downtown to the Gallery Mall
My mom started bugging with the clothes she chose
I didn't say nothing at first
I just turned up my nose
She said, "What's wrong? This shirt cost $20"
I said, "Mom, this shirt is plaid with a butterfly collar!"
The next half hour was the same old thing
My mother buying me clothes from 1963
And then she lost her mind and did the ultimate
I asked her for Adidas and she bought me Zips!
Not picking on you OP, I promise! They are going to wear what they want to wear.

My MS dresses the same, as do all his friends.
He had to wear a suit for an event recently and you would have thought it was literal torture.
If you want to have a few nicer items for a special event just make sure you have a pair of pants, a button down or polo, a nice pair of shoes, and if you really think you need it, a blue blazer and a tie.
