NP here. We live in DC. If we were to report such an incident to the police or FBI, how would we go about doing so? Via email, phone, or walk in?

Thank you in advance for any help.

I'm sure there've been several movies with that premise. He was only at school for a couple of weeks when they caught him.

+1 You are absolutely right to be pursuing with police/FBI, but this episode is also a lesson for your DC about how to avoid this type of situation.

Wasn’t there a Drew Barrymore movie with that premise?

When I was in high school, back in the middles ages, there was a kid who enrolled part way through the year as a senior. It turns out that he was actually in his twenties and was AWOL from the military. True story.

A 23 year old male posing as a 15 year old to talk to a 15 year old girl is at best fraud and at worst, grooming.

I was able to confirm real age by looking up the phone number he texted from and got his full name. I then searched him up and got highschool grad date, college grad date, other usernames, all similar to the one on tik tok. The police advised filing an online report and said someone will call in 24-48 hours.

They can catfish him as a 15 year old and bust him if his intentions are nefarious.

Do you really think the police will do this??

Yes. It depends on how busy they are with other crime though.

I think what he actually said in these texts matter as well.

Doubt it, they don't even know if this guy lives in the area. They probably have their hands full with kids who have actually met online predators.
