Southern values haven’t changed much in a few centuries.

My cousin is making more money sitting at home (from federal and state benefits) than if she got off the couch and reported to work each day. There's no incentive.
She, and I'm assuming thousands of others, are in the same boat, hence the countless job opportunities and employers scrambling to fill jobs especially as "normal" (and seasonal) jobs are insight.
And she's vax'd so she really has no excuse.
Why do you think that reflects poorly on her, rather than the low wage employer's taking advantage of people? She did the math and made the smart choice. The one time the system shakes out to advantage workers, psychos like you are chomping at the bit to see them relegated back to serfdom.
I'm not the poster, but I think that anyone who earns more on unemployment should either pursue higher education or a trade such as plumbing. Fast food jobs are for teens and college students, not 30+ year old adults.

And yet their positivity rates are the lowest and their economic recovery pace the highest. Go figure!

Uh. The south has consistently had some of the highest positivity rates and Covid case rates in the nation.

They are not “reluctant.” They are lazy.
