We did flea drops once when we lived in a beach community at vet’s recommendation (he was indoor only). It smelled awful and lasted on his neck for for weeks. After a few days he developed paw flicking, a sign of poor tolerance of meds. He is ok but we will never administer again.

A dog can bring them into the house on his fur and before they try to bite him and die, they can jump on the cat. It has happened.
