This. I think Peloton is the only slat treadmill made primarily for home use. If Woodways were widely used at home they would probably have the same issue.

Safety is safety. One life or limb lost is one too many. There has to be more to Peloton’s story than being reported.

I bet they will cost more on the resale market. Peloton is offering a full refund until Nov 2022. Resale buyers will have to pay more than the refund offered.

This is OP. The email I got said the touchscreen can loosen and fall off. The belt isn’t the problem with the less expensive treads.

Ugh we just got a crappy little treadmill and I lectured my kids pretty intensely about never playing on it. I am keeping it unplugged and leaving the safety cord off when I'm not using it.

In college a guy who lived on my floor paid for his entire 4 years of college because he was degloved by his mom’s treadmill. This was in the early 90s so IMHO peloton should have known better!

I would guess that the proposed remediation will not be ready fast enough to avoid a lawsuit, therefore, the recall.
I will be disappointed if it's just a lock code, I would hope for a kit that covers the exposed slats on the ends.

I have a Tread+ and won’t be giving it up. The remedy offered on the CPSC website for the issue is to either return it for a refund, or Peloton will move the tread to a safe place in your house. Peloton is also rolling out a lock code for the tread. My Tread is in a garage apartment behind two locked doors.

A product is recalled when it poses an unreasonable risk to consumers vis a vis other similar products on the market, which the Tread clearly does.
I like my Peloton bike, but if it were recalled for safety reasons I wouldn’t hesitate to turn it in. Why the blind defense of a corporation that makes a ridiculously expensive product to profit off consumers? You may love the classes, but Peloton the brand isn’t your BFF.
