OP here - she's a golden mountain dog (bernese mountain/golden retriever mix).

I'm going to have my husband fly out and pick her up.

Thank you for the helpful replies.

Curious if this is some kind of wolfdog. Probably one of the only not available on the East.

What about a service like this one?

There was an airline where pets would be transported in the main cabin. Is it still around? I would not risk shipping a puppy across the country otherwise.

OP, ignore the dramatics in this thread. Get a flight with a layover and figure out where the pet area in the middle airport is.

Bring the puppy on board (it will fit), the noise and movement of the plane will most likely put it to sleep.

You know dogs aren't allowed out of their crates under the seat right? In a 6 hour flight, that dog is going to pee like 10x. I just can't see how this would work. It would cry the entire time. I've flown often with my dog, but as an adult dog and only trips of 2 hours or so.

This. You're an ass, OP.

There are plenty of valid reasons to fly with a dog (OK, several, at least). "I could only find my large, preferred breed in Seattle, so I am going to bring an 8 week old puppy on a cross-country flight for 6 hours" ain't one of them.

What type of dog is this? At 8 weeks I think even a Bernese Mountain Dog is under the weight limit for under seat. I would fly out and bring the dog myself (or DH + DC).

This blows my mind. Firstly make sure you are not being scammed. Secondly, why would you think it’s ok to ship an 8 week old puppy in a box under a plan for several hours now it’s hot???? Who does that?? Because it’s your “ preferred breed” , what does that even mean?

Can't you get a closer dog? This seems crazy.
