This is a little much. Arrogance is not the same as low IQ.

This would be an opportunity for Elrich or the Council to actually show some guts and put out some forceful words, but they won't do that either. I can't imagine Elrich doing so, would be nice to see some of the more reasonable Council members do anything. I can think of one or two that would probably want to but won't for the sake of county politics and it being a perceived risk to say anything at all negative about Gayles.

They all have the same mindset. I am almost certain they see nothing wrong with his comments.

This. And that's a big problem because I tend to agree with Gayles/Elrich/County Council on a lot of things but I can't support this. It tells me he made decisions, and others supported him, out of vindictiveness and not public health considerations. That undermines everything else we need to do to end the pandemic.

I'm willing to bet it's because few people know about it and county officials want to keep it that way. People need to write their councilmemebers- it will be harder for them to ignore if they hear from constituents about it. And other news organizations need to pick up the story.

For sure. I don't think this is on anyone's radar, was it published anywhere else but the Examiner? I've written to Elrich and Gayles a few times during the pandemic advocating for (public) schools and childcare (especially after that stunt they tried to pull a few months back) and expressing concern over the requirement for toddlers as young as 2 to wear masks. Never got a response- I didn't expect to, but now I wonder if any of my emails served as fodder for them.....

It does not matter if he was right or wrong on the merits. You cannot have these types of people in positions of public trust.

It certainly maters that he was wrong on the merits. His judgment sucks and has been proven wrong.

Sucks to be him as a local pariah now as well as future employment opportunities have just been made incredibly more difficult with the publishing of all this.

Maybe Reimer- I think he’s kinda sleazy but he has been trying to position himself as the alternative to Elrich and at one point did come out in favor of prioritizing schools and childcare.

In the MPIA there is an email of Gayles complaining about Reiner and dissing his own boss https://mobile.twitter.com/SmPotatoes/status/1388471834220408834/photo/1

It's incredible that no one likes Riemer. I think he's a FOS.

Riemer just said in Council that the county should offer kids free movie passes and gift cards for pizza to encourage COVID vaccination. It's parents who are making that decision.....and the ones who will vaccinate their kids probably aren't the ones going to the movies right now.

Right? It’s really disheartening that this guy is the county’s top public health official and that leadership is dismissing his thoroughly unprofessional behavior. Can you imagine if this were so wine like Faucci instead? Biden would be asking for his resignation by the end of the day.
