Other tricks -
1) push down on the resistance knob while trying to unclip.
2) while pushing down on the resistance knob, turn your heel away from the bike.
Using shoe cages instead of clipless pedals will significantly impact the efficiency of your workout and your output.
Personally and like another poster suggested, I love speedplay pedals more than delta for a road bike, but that is a significant investment. You can buy tons of Look Delta compatible cleats and bike shoes in different styles and budgets.
Regardless, you spent a lot of money on a technical piece of equipment and pay a good deal for a subscription. It is a shame diminishing the performance of that investment for a minor convenience and to overcome a learning curve.
