I wish that were true. In about eight states, spousal rape cannot be prosecuted unless it meets certain standards -- usually the use of a weapon or force.

This is the case in Maryland, where spousal rape is against the law only if force or a threat of force is used.

In Maryland, as in some other states, there is an exemption for if the victim is incapacitated. Sounds crazy but it's true.

I am former reporter who used to cover the Maryland legislature and every year Dems would try to introduce a bill to close the spousal rape loophole, and every year it would get shot down by Eastern and Southern Shore Republicans.

I’m a Georgetown Law grad who dedicated her entire fertile life to public service, putting among other criminals numerous child rapists in prison. I have two close female friends from law school who did the same, foregoing motherhood to make the world a better place for other people’s children. I know dozens of incredible public servants who are products of the Jesuit educational ethic at Georgetown and have made very significant contributions to the civil rights movement in this country over the course of their careers.

Paul Butler teaches at Georgetown Law, for Pete’s sake!

I have no doubt there are many quality people at the medical school and in the other areas of academic study at Georgetown, and many decent hardworking graduates too.


Your logic doesn’t even add up, given that you’re asserting it used to be good but now it’s a cesspool, yet it’s clear from the looks of this guy he graduated from Georgetown many years ago - when you claim it used to be good.

I think I smell the insecurity of somebodies who didn’t get accepted or whose children didn’t get accepted.

Can we pick your brain a little? How can rape crimes be reduced?

G law grad, thank you for serving the community and making our world a better place. Using logic on DCUM and pointing out gaping discrepancies doesn't work. I work at a place frequently commented on at DCUM, and the amount of misinformation and lack of logic are astounding for a well-educated community, not to mention the lack of empathy of an anon online community.
