I absolutely support that and will cheer you on. Seriously.

I still disagree that doctors are gatekeepers to the record (they are not), or that the records can't be accessed (they can). But making them more accessible would be fabulous and -- at least a little -- demystify some of the understanding about vaccines.

Thank you!

I am sorry, not trying to be snarky, but I do not understand what you are trying to say. It says "individuals or organizations as required by law," and that is what it means.

There is a list of people who can become registered users (including providers and individuals or organizations required by law). Your provider, if they are registered, can just log in and print it out. That is what we do at my clinic.

I am not the PP, but the notion that I need a provider to access my own vaccination records is ridiculous.

I'm sorry, you missed the post where you can email or call on the phone, then? It is on the prior page.

The point is that it is not 1985. I shouldn’t have to consult the state by phone or email or call my doctor to access my vaccination records. They should be available to me by secure website access like in virtually every other state.

Okay. So this is important to you. It's a state-run site, so that's your tax dollars. What are you going to do about it? Whinge (not whine, whinge) about it on an anonymous site and call it a day?

If that's it, I don't think it's really that important to you.

Actually I am writing my state representative and the state health department urging them to provide electronic/online access to vaccine records and pointing out that Virginia is one of only a few states lacking it.

Go to md.myir.net and register. I did this and can see records of my Covid, shingles, pneumococcal, and even flu vaccinations. You will be able to print certificates of immunization from the site as well.

This is great. I can't find anything like it for Virginia.

There is a link to VIIS earlier in the thread. If you click through to the FAQ, you can find this:

How can I obtain a copy of my immunization record from VIIS?

You can contact VIIS staff by phone at 804-864-8055 or by email at VIISInfo@vdh.virginia.gov

Thanks. I should have been clear--I was referring to the capability in Maryland to see vaccine records electronically. That is what I can't find (and doesn't seem to exist) in Virginia.

Has anyone called this number or contacted VIIS by email and been able to confirm the accuracy of any covid vaccine records?

Virginia appears to be one of, at most, a handful of states that does not provide internet access to vaccination records (according to the CDC website).

Just to clarify -- providers have electronic access, as do some others. It's just not available in Virginia to the general public, even for your own record.

So your physician office presumably can get an updated copy.

An authorized user are:

•Health care provider or health plans
•Schools head start programs, and day care centers.
•Individuals or organizations as required by law or in the management of a public health crisis
•Other immunization registries

https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/immunization/viis/faq/

Becoming an authorized user requires registration, but after that, you can just log in.

Individuals does not refer to everybody, just individuals required by law ...
