To the person who asked about structure—I think the academic stuff is structured, but there is a free period every day, and a lot of freedom in the afternoon PBL activities. We understand there’s also supposed to be a lot of work on social-emotional learning, but we aren’t quite sure how that will play out.

Good to hear positive news-- maybe they will add a high school class

Our child is at the Old Town campus and we have been very impressed by both the academics and the social learning opportunities. It is a welcoming and inclusive school community. Our child's teacher really gets the kids and what kind of support they need. Our kiddo is really happy there and is making significant progress on all fronts.

PBL is project or problem based learning. The kids work together to come up with a plan, create, and test their ideas. I believe this month it is a pinball machine. Last month the kids researched ideas for a class pet. They worked together to build models of the pet habitats based upon their research. My son was over the moon. He now does this for fun at home. there are always growing pains with start up companies, but we have been very happy. My son's teachers are always willing to communicate progress and go out of their way to celebrate positives vs. negatives. The conferences have been great as his teachers are willing to meet late (after hours) and on weekends. If there is ever an issue, I am notified immediately so we can work together to create a plan before a small issue turns into a problem. These teacher's have bent over backwards to help my child. I've seen so much growth with both social skills and academics.

Can you say why? I think it’s operating at it near capacity.

My kids go there and have thrived. Kristen who runs the school is great.

There's a variety of kids who go there, although gifted kids and kids with IEPs seem to do the best there. Class sizes of 9 or 10 kids.

It's multi-grade groupings based on ability, so the kids are getting challenged at an appropriate level. They made mid-year adjustments too.

If you're looking for a private school with long traditions and huge campuses with horses, then this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for a place that focuses on academics with small class sizes, then this is the place.

This school is unlikely to last IMO. Shame.

Is this for the old town location? It’s gorgeous and we live right there (and don’t have many options), but the woman who answers the phone never follows up. No emails returned. No call backs. It left a bad taste in my mouth

Honestly, the reviews saying their kids are haivng a great time in school made me so upset becuase of COURSE your child will have a great time in a school with no structure, basically no actual cirriculum, and a bunch of free time. The woman who runs the school talks a big game, but has absolutely no follow through. I was told repeatedly that my daughter was recieving accomodations per her IEP only to find out months later that none of that was actually true. The teachers are frazzled and often unable to answer my questions. This whole thing is smoke and mirrors. Save your money and save your kids.

Just wanted to revive this. The school seems interesting, but without a track record it was a little hard to tell how it would be. Looking for a kid who needs a lot of structure.

The woman running the school has ignored many of my emails. We spoke in some depth about my daughter interested in coming to the newly opened school in Old Town and is ignoring all my emails ever since. I cannot for the life of me understand why she would want a new student at her own school in which she had openings. What a way to start with a brand new school in Old Town.

Sounds promising but the ad they currently have posted for teaching staff is not too reassuring. Willing to take as little as one year of teaching experience. That might be ok with NT kids but I’m skeptical with 2e. Time will tell. Fingers crossed.
